I would use a glogster for students to present during class on different topics. Using glogster to help students express themselves is a great way to keep students interactive while learning and is much more interesting than using power point. The glogster I created is about my favorite animal. A student doing this assignment would also add different facts about their favorite animal. http://nw1111.glogster.com/owls/
Wordle
I would use wordle in the classroom to make posters of different groups of words, such as the weekly spelling tests or maybe of all the sight words. It would also be a good tool to use when studying poems or a short story.
There is a massive amount of technology out there that would be great to use in the classroom. First of all, I really like The Hero Factory (http://cpbherofactory.com/) With this website, students can create a superhero of their choice and then use the superhero they created to be the subject of a creative writing story.
Student can also use Make Belief Comixs website to create a comic strip with their choice of characters and text boxes. This tool can help students write dialogue and conversations.
I will also use Prezi, Glogster, Slide, and Photo Peach for students to put on presentations in the classroom. They are way more interesting than the over-used power points for presentations.
I would say that I am a digital native. I have grown up around computers and use them everyday. I don't use a lot of complicate programs, mainly social networking sites, educational sites, and games. Even though I don't have a smart phone, I text multiple times a day and find it as one of my main forms of communication. I think I would be fine without using technology for a day, but if I technology were cut off in the middle of a school day, I would be lost.
The students I will be teaching in the future will be 100% digital natives. They will not remember a time before the internet. Just because technology is present in the daily lives of most students today, I think it's important to still teach students who to write and express themselves orally. With the increase of technology, students are losing the social skills they need for face-to-face conversations. They will need social skills for other social events in the future such as job interviews. Therefore, I think it's important that students are still practicing proper social skills everyday.
I think that as teachers, we need to know how to teach with technology, but also how to teach without it. The worst thing about technology is that sometimes is doesn't work. If teachers only know how to teach with technology, then they will not be able to teach if the technology does not work for a day or two. If I were placed in a school with limited technology, I would still be able to teach. I work in a classroom, and I know that students love technology, so I would try to get as much technology as I could in the classroom, without compromising the quality of a lesson.
For my classroom, I would like a smart board. I enjoy using them and I think they are a great tool. I would also like the school I work at to have laptops to use in the classroom for students to type and use the internet.
Welcome to my EDFN Final Project!

Here's my wordle on the poem, Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening, by Robert Frost.

Read, Write, Think also has a lot of great interactive resources for teachers to use.
